An invalid was visited by two physicians with opinions opposite.
The first, called Betterson, inclined to hope; the second, Worsenham, predicted swift demise.
They also disagreed about the treatment, but the latter’s regimen was followed.
Soon the sick man passed away.
Said Worsenham, “He’s dead, so Q.E.D.”
“He would have lived,” said Betterson, “had I been heeded.”
“I was right!”
“And so was I!”
The doctor triumphs even when patients die.
